July Lake Fork Fishing Report

2009 (Page is updated every month)

Please note new e-mail  lkfork@quikus.com

I would like to start out this report with a request.  We have had some inquiries for available dates thru emails.  Some have been on your computers at work.  Because of the spam blocker on some employers computers, we are unable to answer you.  Please include a phone if you would so we can reply to your request.  Thanks.

We are excited to announce something new for you hunters out there.  Go to www.hiddenlakeshuntingresort.com.   If you like to hunt pheasant, chucker or quail, you have got to look into this.  First class guides and dogs, excellent accommodations and food.  Setting on 500 acres and only 10 minutes from Lake Fork.  Do yourself a favor and call Billy or Kathryn at 1-888-hunt txs. or cell 903-714-7574 and book a trip.  Better yet book a day fishing with me and hunting with them.  It's a good deal with great people.

Not much has changed.  We are still in the hot summer pattern.  The bite has been very slow for me during the day.  The lake is in good shape and at full pool.  There is good schooling activity early and late.  Yellow magic,  Buzz baits and weightless Zoom flukes are work well in the shallows.  Deep fish schooling in 20 to 30 ft of water are hitting a Storm swim bait and a Ledge buster spinner bait in the 11/2 ounce size slow rolled over the bottom.  Most of these fish are much larger then the fish that are shallow and usually the schools are much larger.  Brush piles are also producing some good fish on a Texas rigged 10 inch Berkley Power worm.  Weightless trick worms, Whacky worms and Flukes under the bridges will catch smaller schooling fish during the heat of the day.   The bite has been slow the past week but should do better because of the heat, the boat traffic is down.  The night bite is coming on strong.  For those of you that don't like the heat, I recommend booking a half day trip from 6 to midnight.  If you like throwing a Jig as I do it can be very productive.  These fish that are laid up during the day are feeding at night.

Crappie are in the brush piles and will remain there till late July.  Some good fish are also coming from the mouths of the cover that have good tree cover.  Just go tree to tree and you will be surprised at the size you can catch.  The bridges have slow down some unless you get there really early.  Gene Larew's Bobby Garland plastics on a 1/16 ounce jig head in Emerald Shad will do the trick.

Catfish are going nuts.  We had over a hundred in the boat on the 4th of July.  Most are small but are averaging around the 1 to 4lb range.  Baits holes with ranch cubes in the 27 to 30 ft range is where you want to be.  If you want to have a good time and some great eating, is is what I recommend.

We have a  package available for the golfers made available to us thru the Links at Lands End on Lake Fork.   Ask about our half day fish and 18 holes of golf.  It makes for a great day of fun in the sun.  I might go golfing with you if you need a good laugh.

Don't forget that we have a 24 ft Barge available for Crappie and Catfish group trips.  We also have Gift Certificates available for birthdays, anniversary's, or just a gift to someone special.  It's a great way to say  thanks to your employees!!!

If you are planning a Corporate trip, now is the time to book.  It takes some time to get other guides and motel accommodations arranged.   We can handle groups up to 50 and more with proper notice.  We do have reference's available upon request.   What a better way to thank your customers or your employees for their business and help.

Please feel free to call me for any additional info you may need at 1-800-533-7047.  These tips will also work on the Lakes in your areas.  Thanks for your interest in Lake Fork Guide Services.  Be safe and God Bless.    Dennis
